Of course! In fact, food packaging is one of the most harmful industries when it comes to environmental impact. Why? Simply because it’s one of the most wasteful industries.

Copious amounts of plastic are typically used in food packaging, which are then discarded immediately after consumption. This plastic then ends up as pollution in the ocean, where it fails to biodegrade for hundreds or thousands of years. Things like plastic straws, beer can plastic netting, and carrier bags can all cause the death of wildlife and contribute to environmental changes.

However, it’s not all bad. Lots of food and catering packaging manufacturers, such as Donovan Bros Ltd , are now turning towards biodegradable and recyclable materials as an alternative to plastic. Consumer attitudes are also changing, which means that the use of environmentally-friendly plastic-alternatives is increasing due to higher consumer demand. The future looks bright - let’s just hope that things continue to change for the better!
